Born July 23 1926 in Willemstad, Curaçao, Netherlands Antilles. Luigi is considered as one of the fathers of contemporary art.
He started with painting in grammar school, followed written courses at the Famous Artists School in New York and Kachin School of Art in the U.S.A., also various workshops in Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Mexico and Colombia. For years he has been giving courses to children and adults in Curaçao, and for 8 years at the Instituto Venezolano para la Cultura y la Cooperacion Curazao.
At first Luigi Pinedo was expressing himself in figurative art by which he could show his love for nature and the old city of Willemstad. This romantic art has a lot of admirers and the paintings are used for postcards. Since the eighties he started with abstract art like cubism. Famous are his abstract clowns. His art is surprising, fascinating and intriguing.
With the years going by, his art has gone through a profound metamorphosis, the leading factor in his work is still his love for the beauty of Curaçao, which is reflected, in the typical colors.
