Department Profile

The Economic Analysis & Research Department is part of the Monetary Policy, Economics & Statistics Division and consists of a team of highly qualified economists. Each economist is responsible for the analysis of the developments in a specific policy area: the real sector, the public sector, the external sector, and the monetary sector. The working environment is professional, informal, collaborative, and very dynamic.   

Responsibilities

  • The responsibilities of the economic and research specialist include:
  • Conducting macro-economic analyses that are published in, among other things, the Bank’s Economic Bulletins.
  • Drafting policy advice for the governments of Curaçao and Sint Maarten on financial and economic affairs.
  • Conducting empirical research on macroeconomic topics relevant to the economies of Curaçao and Sint Maarten that are published in research papers.
  • Developing and maintaining the macroeconomic models of Curaçao and Sint Maarten.
  • Drafting speeches, presentations, and articles.

Requirements

  • A Master’s degree in economics or econometrics with specialization in at least one of the following areas: macroeconomics, monetary economics, public finances, or international economics;
  • Experience with quantitative research methods and techniques;
  • Experience with computer software for data analyses and research such as Eviews or Stata;
  • Fluency in English in writing and speaking;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to conduct research and provide policy recommendations on complex issues;
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks and handle multiple deadlines;
  • Goal-oriented and organized team player;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Able to work in a dynamic environment.

Terms of employment
