On July 19, 2024, the Centrale Bank van Curaçao en Sint Maarten (CBCS) presented the Best Economic Research Award (BERA) to the winners of the 2024 edition. This competition was open for students from Curaçao and Sint Maarten at HAVO and VWO level, while students from both countries as well as from abroad were invited to submit their graduation theses at the bachelor and master level. The winners of this year’s competition are Brandon Matroos and Giulianno Daal from Albert Schweitzer College at HAVO level, Ian Noor and Jerome Da Costa from Radulphus College at VWO level, and Nathalie Zimmerman Beriguete from the University of Curaçao at the bachelor level.
A panel of judges consisting of Jose Jardim, Eric Matto, Alberto Romero, and Eugene Holiday reviewed all entries and selected the winning research paper in each category.
We thank all students and teachers for their participation in the research competition! We hope it provided the students with inspiration to continue working on economic research topics and especially those concerning Curaçao and Sint Maarten.
