Caribbean Guilder Banknotes

The design of the new Caribbean guilder banknotes draws inspiration from the “World Under the Sea”. The front of the banknotes depicts the vibrant marine life native to Curaçao and Sint Maarten, and symbolizes the unity of the two countries,

Caribbean Guilder Banknotes

The 2025 Caribbean Guilder Banknotes series consists  of 5 banknotes.

The Cg10 shows the Gray Angelfish and the Queen Conch on the front and the historic lighthouse on Klein Curaçao on the back. The color of this banknote is predominantly yellow.

The Cg20 shows shows the Spotted Eagle Ray and the Yellow Cowry on the front and the ecologically unique Simpson Bay Lagoon on the back. The color of this banknote is predominantly blue.

The Cg50 shows the Green Sea Turtle and the Favored Tellin shell on the front and the pristine Playa Kenepa Grandi Beach on the back.The color of this banknote is predominantly green.

The Cg100 shows the Spotlight Parrot Fish and the Common Music Volute on the front and the remarkable Courthouse of Sint Maarten on the back. The color of this banknote is predominantly red.

The Cg200 shows the the Long snout Seahorse and the Giant Tun Shell on the front and the iconic Queen Emma Bridge on the back. The color of this banknote is predominantly purple.

The colors of the bank-notes have been carefully chosen to ensure a clear difference between the denominations. The dimensions of the banknotes are 147 x 66 mm.

Caribbean Guilder Banknotes

Security features: What to look for

  1. 3D moving stripe: Tilt the banknote to see XCG inside the sun shining over shell in ocean, and water droplets with strong 3D effect.
  2. High-relief printing: Feel the raised ink on the featured sea creature, CENTRALE BANK VAN CURAÇAO EN SINT MAARTEN, signatures, date & denomination.
  3. Color-changing ink: Tilt the banknote to see the shell changing color from blue to green.
  4. Security thread: See the rapidly moving waves. Each denomination has a specific color.
  5. Iridescent color: Tilt the banknote to see wave motifs and XCG in golden metallic color.
  6. Elements for the visually impaired: Feel the raised ink along the short edges of the banknote, the number of rows corresponding to the denomination.
  7. Watermark: Look for the multi-tonal image of the compass combined with the letters XCG when held to the light.
  8. See-through feature: Look for patterns on the front and reverse of the banknote that complete the letters XCG when held to the light.

Suspect Banknotes

Always compare a suspect banknote with one of the same denomination from a different source. Do not compare with the reproductions in this brochure, which always differ from the original. Unfold a received banknote and look at the front and the back. Check the banknote for the security features shown above. Pay special attention to soiled or repaired bills. The Bank can assist you in verifying the validity of a suspect note. Notify the police as soon as possible if you think that a banknote has been counterfeited.

The circulation of banknotes is the responsibility of the Centrale Bank van Curaçao en Sint Maarten. The law grants the Bank the exclusive right to issue banknotes. The Bank is also the holder of the copyright thereto. Counterfeiting and even the possession of counterfeit banknotes are punishable by law.
