The coin is bi-metallic with three inserts (Nickel Plated Steel outer ring, a Bronze Plated Steel inner ring and a Nickel Plated Steel  center) and has a diameter of 25.85 millimeters. This coin weighs 8.5 grams. The front shows the effigy of the King, his name ‘Willem-Alexander’ and the words ‘Koning der Nederlanden’. 
The back of the Curaçao coins show the island of Curaçao surrounded by the Caribbean Sea of which the waves are formed by the words ‘Curaçao, while Sint Maarten coins show its national coat of arms.
Both coins depict 2 Green Sea Turtles swimming to each other, representing the unity shared by these countries
The edge is plain and the edge lettering shows the sentence 'God zij met ons" (God be with us)
